Those who perform electrical work on buildings, structures, or equipment in agricultural use, as defined by Sec. 11.002 of the Texas Water Code, are not required by the state to be licensed as electricians.

Look at the license they carry in their wallet: a journeyman or master electrician can perform work alone. An apprentice electrician requires the onsite supervision of a more qualified licensee, such as a journeyman or a master electrician.

In Texas, it takes approximately four (4) Years to complete the four (4) level program of 8,000 hours on the job (OJT) training hours, 576 hours of classroom hours with passing grades, and passing the required state of Texas journeyman exam, to receive your state electrical license.
